Walk for Children 2024

Ilkeston Churches Together

Ilkeston Churches Together

My Story

On 21 December, the longest night of the year, we will be walking 5k to help Childline be ready for every question this Christmas. On average, a child contacts Childline every 45 seconds and last Christmas, 5,499 children contacted Childline to ask for help.

Help us reach and exceed our £100 target by donating to our page.

How your donation could help:

- £4 could pay to answer a life-changing call to Childline

- £29 could pay for a Childline supervisor for one hour, supporting our volunteer counsellors

- £48 could help answer a call from one child every day over the 12 days of Christmas

- £100 could help our trained volunteer counsellors to answer up to 25 calls for help to Childline

The Ilkeston Churches are walking together.   We will be starting in Cotmanhay and walking 5k through Ilkeston, calling at churches along the way to sing a carol.   Please look for us on 21 December.  We will set off at around 3.30 and aim to arrive at the Church of Christ on Adam Street by 5.30.   You might spot us at Holy Trinity, Ilkeston Methodist, St Mary's, URC, St Johns and other places.
